Jenni Rivera’s Film 'Filly Brown' Hitting Big Screen in April
Jenni Rivera’s film “Filly Brown,” her debut in the big screen, will be hitting theaters in April of next year, entertainment site is reporting.

The movie, which was a hit during last year’s Sundance and HBO Latino International Film Festivals, also stars Hollywood veteran actor Edward James Olmos.

“Her acting is incredible,” Olmos told Mexican entertainment ma {keyword} gazine about Rivera’s breakthrough role. “She can win the Oscar,” he added.

“She impressed my son and I with how much she did for the film even though she was only present for a short period of time,” Olmos said, adding that his son was one of the main producers of the flick.

“She ended up being great for the drama,” she continued. “I saw her cry with such emotion  very passionately. A great actress ready to debut in film,” he said.

Rivera plays a jailed mother who abandoned her child and, while in prison {keyword} , is working toward helping her daughter achieve her dreams of becoming a rap star.

According to Enelbrasero.com, “La Diva de la Banda” never got to see the film once it was completed and showing at Sundance and other festivals, due to the marital problems she was facing with her third husband, former Chicago White Sox player Esteban Loaiza.

Rivera, killed Dec. 9 in a plane crash in northern México, was at the pe {keyword} ak of her career as perhaps the most successful female singer in grupero, a male-dominated regional style influenced by the norteño, cumbia and ranchero styles.

The small aircraft was en route from Monterrey to Toluco, just outside Mexico City, when it was reported missing about 10 minutes after takeoff.

She was 43 and leaves behind five children.

Robert Griffin III started it, rest of the Redskins are finishing
(91 yards rushing, one touchdown) continued to carry would-be tacklers while handling the bulk of the work in the running game. Offensive coordinator , obviously recognizing Griffin s limitations, didn t call the usual assortment of snazzy option plays that have enabled Griffin to terrorize opposing defenses in a season that should end with his being selected as the NFL s top rookie on offense.Instead, Washington operated a more traditional, pro-style offense. The Redskins had to work harder to score than they ve been accustomed to, but Morris was a difference-making workhorse, as usua {keyword} l. Washington s receivers ran great routes and blocked as if a playoff berth could be on the line {keyword} . was no less impressive. For the fifth time in six games, the Redskins collected at least two turnovers. The pass rush, much improved during the run, produced five sacks and pressured Eagles rookie quarterback from start to finish, forcing an interception and a fumble. The Eagles squandered scoring opportunities and their final drive stalled at the Redskins 5-yard line as time expired.Washington has its longest winning streak during the regular season since it reeled off seven consecutive victories from Weeks 2 to 9 in the 1996 season. The Redskins (9-6) have rallied from a 3-6 start to move into sole possession of first place in the NFC East. There are no secrets behind this turnaround. It s just an inspired group effort. To win down the stretch, to win the way we have, it takes much more than one guy, no matter how talented he is, nose tackle Barry Cofield said. RG has been playing at one level all year. And the moment that everyone else picked it up, the moment that we caught up with him, that s when we started winning. That s what you ve been seeing and that s what you saw today. Record-setting kickerOf all the unexpected developments during the streak, perhaps none is more surprising than place kicker s run of perfection. He just can t miss, or at least he hasn t so far.Forbath connected from 45 and 42 yards in the first half to improve to 17 for 17 on field goals. In the process {keyword} , he set an NFL mark for most consecutive field goals at the beginning of a career. Garrett Hartley of the New Orleans Saints was successful on his first 16 attempts.

The latest sign of trouble came from Spending Pulse, which reported holiday-related sales rose 0.7 percent from Oct. 28 through Dec. 24, compared with a 2 percent increase last year. The preliminary estimate from SpendingPulse was in line with other estimates showing weak growth during the holiday season, when retailers can book about 30 percent of annual sales -- and in many cases, half of their profits. While hot t {keyword} oys such as certain performed well, toymakers worry that traditional children's gifts may lose out long-term to high-tech gadgets. “The top two guys, Mattel and , they are terrified,” , managing director of equity research at , the . “They should be terrified, but the official party line is they’re not terrified.” Recommended: On Tuesday, the and Weekly Chain Store Sales Index sh {keyword} owed sales rose only 0.7 percent in the week ended Saturday. The estimates are still preliminary and focus on s {keyword} ales, not profits. A handful of retailers will post sales data next week, but most, including heavyweights like Wal-Mart, will not report results at the register until they release financial results in mid-February.Analysts have also said many retailers entered the season with inventories under control, which could help protect margins.Still, the latest holiday season sales could end up the weakest since 2008, during the last recession, when sales dropped 4.4 percent in November and December. The broad brush was wasn't all that merry for retailers, and you have to ask what those margins look like if the top line didn't meet their expectations, said Kim Forrest, senior equity research analyst at in .Analysts and industry groups already expected sales to grow at a slower pace than in 2011 and 2010. predicted 4.l percent sales growth, versus a 5.6 percent increase a year earlier. But growth of less than 1 percent is weaker than even some of the most pessimistic forecasts, and markets reacted accordingly. The index fell 1.8 percent in midday trading Wednesday.
